Singer CARNIE WILSON is the latest celebrity to pen her own memoir - uncovering details of her tumultuous past in an effort to come to terms with a lifelong struggle with her weight.
The Wilson-Phillips star, daughter of Beach Boy rocker Brian Wilson, underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 after expanding to a weight of 300 pounds (136 kilograms) on her five-foot-three-inch (1.61 meter) frame.
Qualified by doctors as morbidly obese, Wilson became an easy target for stand-up comics and a centrepiece among tabloid fodder - and now she's turning inward to reveal details of lesbian affairs, her battle with drug and alcohol addiction and her rocky relationship with her famous father in the latest tome.
Forty-year-old Wilson, now a married mother to three-year-old daughter Lola, whittled down from a U.S. size 28 to a size six after shedding 152 pounds (68.9 kilograms) following the surgery.
The singer posed in Playboy in 2003 to show off her new figure - though she has since put some of her weight back on.
Wilson is set to collaborate with Chicago Sun Times' newspaper journalist Cindy Pearlman on the new book.
In 2005, Wilson published a collection of family-style recipes in her cookbook To Serve With Love. She has also published 2003's I'm Still Hungry, a follow-up to her 2001 autobiography Gut Feelings: From Fear and Despair to Health and Hope.
COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN rarely shares a bed with wife GWYNETH PALTROW when he is writing music - because he works at night in a hidden corner of their London home.
The singer confesses the creative process is a tortuous one for him, and his best lyrics are often fuelled by insomnia.
Martin, currently promoting the band's new album Viva La Vida, tells Rolling Stone magazine, "My problem is that I often take a sleeping pill in order to go to sleep, but then I get excited about a song, so I go and play music, and then it kind of kicks in halfway through.
"I have a little corner where nobody can hear me in the middle of the night, and that's where I spend most of the night times. I wake up the next morning and find these strange notes to myself. I'm a little bit ashamed about it."
Babyshambles rocker Pete Doherty has been jailed for 14 weeks for drug use and failing to attend probation hearings on time.
The 29-year-old — who has previously dated supermodel Kate Moss — today attended West London Magistrates Court where Judge Davinder Lachar handed him the sentence.
A court spokesman said that Doherty had been jailed for “breach of time keeping, non-compliance of his order and using different drugs”.
Model/singer-turned-reality TV sensation TILA TEQUILA is set to become the latest celebrity to pen her memoirs.
The Singapore-born bisexual star of VH1 dating show A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, real name Tila Nguyen, will release Hooking Up With Tila Tequila in December (08).
As well as revealing all about her life as the daughter of immigrants to America and her rise to fame as a model, Tequila, 26, will also impart dating wisdom in the book.
On her hit reality TV series, now in its second season, men and women compete for Tequila's affections.
British singer BOY GEORGE has resorted to selling T-shirts in a London market stall.
On Friday (16May08), the star - real name George O'Dowd - was spotted at a booth in London's Spitalfields Market looking bored as he tried to sell clothing from his B-Rude label for $20 (GBP10) a piece.
As the frontman of flamboyant group Culture Club, the singer sold over 10 million records in the 1980s - but in recent years the 46-year-old has fallen upon hard times, battling an alleged drug addiction.
He told a reporter, "It's been all right - quiet today though. I'm bored and cold but we have to do a Friday stall to get a pitch on Sunday."
CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER is reportedly going to return to Channel 4.
The controversial show was axed last year after the race row involving JADE GOODY and Bollywod star SHILPA SHETTY.
It was replaced by BIG BROTHER CELEBRITY HIJACK in which celebrities acted as Big Brother and controlled a group of gifted youngsters.
However, Channel 4 bosses have decided to return the show to its original format after a dive in ratings, reports the Sun
A source told the publication: "We never said Big Brother would be gone forever.
"We just wanted to give it a 'time out' – a resting period after all the friction and chaos of the Shilpa and Jade saga."
However, a spokesperson told the newspaper that no final decision regarding the show's future had been made.
Meanwhile, long-time BIG BROTHER presenter DAVINA MCCALL has denied rumours that she is quitting the show to pursue an acting career, saying: "This is just a silly rumour. There is no truth in it."
