Carnie Wilson - Carnie Wilson Pens Tell-all Book

Singer CARNIE WILSON is the latest celebrity to pen her own memoir - uncovering details of her tumultuous past in an effort to come to terms with a lifelong struggle with her weight.

The Wilson-Phillips star, daughter of Beach Boy rocker Brian Wilson, underwent gastric bypass surgery in 1999 after expanding to a weight of 300 pounds (136 kilograms) on her five-foot-three-inch (1.61 meter) frame.

Qualified by doctors as morbidly obese, Wilson became an easy target for stand-up comics and a centrepiece among tabloid fodder - and now she's turning inward to reveal details of lesbian affairs, her battle with drug and alcohol addiction and her rocky relationship with her famous father in the latest tome.

Forty-year-old Wilson, now a married mother to three-year-old daughter Lola, whittled down from a U.S. size 28 to a size six after shedding 152 pounds (68.9 kilograms) following the surgery.

The singer posed in Playboy in 2003 to show off her new figure - though she has since put some of her weight back on.

Wilson is set to collaborate with Chicago Sun Times' newspaper journalist Cindy Pearlman on the new book.

In 2005, Wilson published a collection of family-style recipes in her cookbook To Serve With Love. She has also published 2003's I'm Still Hungry, a follow-up to her 2001 autobiography Gut Feelings: From Fear and Despair to Health and Hope.

Coldplay - Martins Songwriting Trauma

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN rarely shares a bed with wife GWYNETH PALTROW when he is writing music - because he works at night in a hidden corner of their London home.

The singer confesses the creative process is a tortuous one for him, and his best lyrics are often fuelled by insomnia.

Martin, currently promoting the band's new album Viva La Vida, tells Rolling Stone magazine, "My problem is that I often take a sleeping pill in order to go to sleep, but then I get excited about a song, so I go and play music, and then it kind of kicks in halfway through.

"I have a little corner where nobody can hear me in the middle of the night, and that's where I spend most of the night times. I wake up the next morning and find these strange notes to myself. I'm a little bit ashamed about it."

Smith wins damages over Hitler allegation

Actor Will Smith has won an apology and undisclosed damages in a London court over a false allegation that he described World War Two Nazi leader Adolf Hitler as a "good person".
The High Court heard that the Oscar-nominated actor was left deeply distressed and acutely embarrassed over the wrong story published by an entertainment newswire service.
Judge David Eady was told that Smith's comments, originally published in the Scottish Daily Record newspaper, were then "wholly misrepresented" by the London-based World Entertainment News Network (WENN).
The agency, which says on its website that it provides information to more than 1,000 media outlets in 25 countries, picked up the interview and then wrongly published worldwide a story headlined "Smith: Hitler was a good person".
Reuters reports that Smith's lawyer Rachel Atkins said in court: "The article alleged (Smith) had declared in an interview that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was a good person. It wholly misrepresents (his) actual words."
The lawyer said that Smith, who was not in court, actually thought Hitler was "vile and heinous".
"The allegations that he could think otherwise is deeply distressing... and has caused him acute embarrassment," she said.
WENN retracted the story and issued a correction and an apology, but no media published it, leaving the libel "at large", according to Atkins.
She said the undisclosed compensation WENN had agreed to pay would be donated to an unnamed charity. It also will meet Smith's legal costs.
John Melville Smith, defending WENN, said his client apologised for the story, which they now admitted was wrong.
He said: "(WENN) offers its apologies to (Smith) for any distress and embarrassment caused by this article."
"(It) accepts that the allegations concerning (him) were misleading and published in error."

Celebrity Big Brother - Celebrity Big Brother Back On Uk Screens

CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER is reportedly going to return to Channel 4.

The controversial show was axed last year after the race row involving JADE GOODY and Bollywod star SHILPA SHETTY.

It was replaced by BIG BROTHER CELEBRITY HIJACK in which celebrities acted as Big Brother and controlled a group of gifted youngsters.

However, Channel 4 bosses have decided to return the show to its original format after a dive in ratings, reports the Sun

A source told the publication: "We never said Big Brother would be gone forever.

"We just wanted to give it a 'time out' – a resting period after all the friction and chaos of the Shilpa and Jade saga."

However, a spokesperson told the newspaper that no final decision regarding the show's future had been made.

Meanwhile, long-time BIG BROTHER presenter DAVINA MCCALL has denied rumours that she is quitting the show to pursue an acting career, saying: "This is just a silly rumour. There is no truth in it."
